Movement Description

Duration: September 2025–Ongoing as of January 2026

Gen Z-led protests began in the Philippines in September 2025, sparked by revelations of irregularities in government flood control projects. Students, youth groups, civil organizations, church leaders, workers, and farmers mobilized in several Philippine cities protesting corruption in the government. A number of in-person protests were huge in size, with at least two protests seeing attendances of over 100,000 people. Protests were largely peaceful despite their size, but did see isolated clashes with police resulting in arrests. In response to the protests, the Speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives resigned and members of the Philippine Senate were removed. Protests are ongoing as of January 2026.
